WHY_GIVE_THANKS? (Give_Thanks Ep2)

Series: #Give Thanks

Preacher: Rev Mitchell Mang'eli

#Key_reading: Psalms 100:1-5
#Recap
Last Sunday we learned when someone gives thanks it reflects three things.
1. You are humble.
2. You have a functional memory/remembrance of what God has done for you.
3. You observe the Kingdom protocol.
#WHY_GIVE_THANKS?
• Today let's talk the why we need to give thanks.
• What is the rationale for us giving thanks? What is the motivation to give thanks?
1. #HIS_DEEDS
• Something must have been done for you to provoke thanksgiving.
• Psalms 136:1-4 Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, and his love endures forever.
• The Lord of Lords is greater than any other god.
• His love endures forever.
• He is exceptional. He alone can do what he has done.
• Psalms 105: 1b …Make his deeds known to the world.
• We praise to declare what he has done.
• We worship him for who he is.
• Isaiah 12:4b … make known among the nations what he has done and proclaim that his name is exalted.
• “There are somethings the Lord will do for you because he wants you to testify and proclaim his name.” If you don’t you miss the point.
• Last week when we had ‘The Rhema Week’ at Utawala a young man who had kidney issues was healed. He came to testify.
2. #HE_IS_GOOD
• Psalms 118: 1 We give thanks to God because he is good. Pleasant. Agreeable. Valuability.
• Psalms 118:17 Dad says ‘Give me a sign of your goodness…’
• El-Shadai means God is good. He is itching with his goodness to deliver it to you.
• In Greek, it has the concept of a mother boobs itching with milk. Her relief is when the child breastfeeds.
• That is why the bible says to worry not about what you will eat…. For the Lord will supply - Matthew 6:25-34
• Psalms 145:9 – The Lord is good to all; he has compassion for all he has made.
• Hebrews 4:15 We do not have a high priest who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weakness…
• Psalms 119:68 You are good and kind and do good; teach me your statutes.
• We have to find comfort in Romans 8:28 ‘All things happen together for good…”
• Eccle 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.
• What you are going through, God is preparing the best for you.
• For you to get the best olive oil, olive seeds must be crushed and pressed hard.
• David concludes this by calling people to come and see the goodness of the Lord.
• Psalm 34:8 AMP
8 O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;
How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.
• God is so good such that when you taste him you see.
3. #HIS_GIFTS_AND_BENEFITS
• Psalms 103:2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits
• Let your soul not forget his goodness.
• Your thoughts may want to dwell on the current physical conditions, but the soul can hold what God has been doing.
• As a father has compassion with his children, so does the Lord with his child Psalms 103:13
• Psalms 103:3 He who forgives your sins. Psalms 130:3 If you Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
• In Heaven, there are books for Deeds and the Lambs Book of Life.
• Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Psalms 32:1
• Psalm 32:2NIV
2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
#Conclusion
• There is joy in being forgiven.
• Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
• Today come to Christ, His arms are open welcoming you to salvation.
• There is no more accusation.
• Salvation is one of the many gifts he has given to us.
• The blood of Jesus is so effective in forgiving all your sins. Come to him. Now.
