Series: # faith influence
#Key_reading: Hebrews 11:23-25 / Psalms 139:16
• Faith must influence 3 things in your life.1. Your #identity2. Your #choices3. Your #values /morals
1. #IDENTITY
• We are fashioned in alignment with our function.• “He fashioned me the way he wanted me to function.” ~ Rev. Mitchell Mang’eli#We are created for God's Glory• This means for his honor and his reputation.
Psalms 139:16 You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I'd ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me was already recorded in your book. • God knew you even before you were conceived in your mother's womb. This means God knows your days. • God has recorded your purpose.
#We are ambassadors of God We must live well to represent the King. #We are a Temple of the Holy Spirit• Whatever we do represents the Lord#We are Royal and priesthood• Rev 1:6 We have been appointed to become priests in God’s sense• This means we have the power to function with authority.
• 1 Peter 2:9 - "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."• We are devoted to God, to broadcast his glorious wonders worldwide.
2. #CHOICES - Hebrews 11:25He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. • Life is a series of decisions. Decisions are not born in a vacuum; they are presented in options. • God gave us the will to choose and the capacity to determine what we want to do. • What we are today is a total of decisions. • If we choose right, we live right. If we choose wrong, we live wrong. • A decision-making process is made of two things:
a) Logic and
b) Intuition
• Logic is the facts, Intuition is the Holy Spirit • Faith should affect the choices we make about family • Life is about choices; some we regret, some we are proud of, some we will regret forever.” • By what you believe, we will see the choices you make. • The right choice is not always the easy one or the convenient one. • There are times you will walk from things that make you happy because they don’t match your faith. • The God you honor by making the right choices He will recompense you. • If it doesn’t pain you, don’t expect it to gain you.
#MOSES • Moses saw the oppression of the Israelites. The oppression of Hebrews. • Moses' mother chose to preserve the son. • Moses picked up the same faith and made the hard choice.
#LOT vs ABRAHAM’S CHOICE - Genesis 13:8-13 • When Abraham was separating from Lot, he told him to choose first. • Lot chose the well-watered Jordan Valley, which was like the garden of the Lord, in the direction of Zoar • Lot saw the plains. Plains means easy. • Abraham chose the opposite decisions, the hills and the mountains – the hard side. • "Wherever God's will take you, his grace will keep you." • Lot’s easy life choice presented him to make a house facing Sodom and Gomorrah. • It is Abraham who went through the hard choices that came to rescue him. • The nursing, the songs, and the care he took for her were Hebraic. 2 Timothy 3:12 NIV • In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, • God promises you company, not immediate rescue. • But after much fire will come great success. • “The faith of the mother downloaded in the son influenced all his choices when he grew up.”
